Review: Minecraft "The Horse Update"

Minecraft: NOW WITH HORSES!

Game: Minecraft
Developer: Mojang
Producer: Mojang
Console: PC
Edition: 1.6 Update AKA "The Horse Update"

With Minecraft 1.7 finally being out and under way, we say good-bye to the last revolutionary update and move on. But even so, "The Horse Update" added new mechanics to the popular PC game and changed how players interacted with their world. Here's my review of the last update:

Ever since it was officially released in 2009, all the players have begged to have new items constantly added to their inventory. But there was one specific request that became the most popular: horses. Adding horses would offer a new way to explore their world, making travel faster and easier. So, when Jeb took control of Minecraft in 2011, their first priority was to make the fans happy and in 2013, they revealed 1.6, better known as "The Horse Update."

Minecraft 1.6 added a LOT of new content to the game, not just horses. 1.6 added new blocks (Hay Bales, Nether Quartz, etc.) and the usual bug fixes. But there was a lot of fan-based items added into 1.6 such as clay and anvils.

After playing 1.6 for about 7 months, all I can say is this: "The Horse Update" is a great new way to play Minecraft while still maintaining it's similar, old school feel. The fact that it does this is key. If you add a whole bunch of new content but change the originality of the game, people may not want to play it anymore because it changed what people loved about the original version. So, kudos to Mojang for keeping the original feel of the game while adding these new changes.

Other than that, the gameplay mechanics still remain the same and it is still just as fun. I give Minecraft 1.6:

Now, if you excuse me, I'm gonna go play 1.7.

And As Always, Gamers of the Nations, RAGE ON! And I'll See You Next Time :)
