Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U - What We Need for DLC

It's been almost a month since Nintendo released their Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Direct online and everyone is still talking about it. From big announcements such as 8-player Smash to small things like improved co-op on Competitive mode, this Direct was packed full of new information. But it was the announcement at the end of the presentation that made fanboys' ovaries EXPLODE: Mewtwo would be returning to Smash Bros. but only as DLC for those who bought both the Wii U and 3DS version of the game. This essentially CONFIRMS DLC for Smash 4. So, if that is the case, then what else should be DLC?

1) Alternate Costumes
While most people don't exactly play Smash Bros. for the alternate costumes, it definitely provides some extra fun into the game, as it sheds a new appearance of our favorite characters. So, it would be no surprise that they should add exclusive, brand-new alternate costumes into the game, right? Keep in mind that Little Mac has the most alternate costumes out of all the other fighters, boasting a large 16 different costumes. Looks like this may be a good opportunity for everyone to catch up.

2) More Big Stages
During the Direct, we learned that for 8-Player Smash, there will be certain stages that will be available for that mode. These stages are actually going to be larger versions of those stages, such as the new Big Battlefield, an expanded version of the Battlefield stage. Because there are only CERTAIN stages available for this gameplay mode, why not have exclusive Big Stages available? Allow large (or even larger) maps such as New Pork City,

3) More Items
If Smash Bros. wasn't already know for it's genius formula, great mechanics, and roster of fighters, it's the items that can really make any battle either a nightmare or a great time. What we need is more items! Bring on items such as the Ice Flower from Super Mario, or even something ridiculous like an NES catridge. Either way, more items will enhance the gameplay and when you combine THAT with 8-Player Smash... Well, mercy on your soul.

4) More Exclusive Characters (and Stages)
When you think about it, Nintendo has some pretty cool looking exclusive out right now such as Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, and coming soon, Splatoon. So... why haven't they tapped those IPs and say,"Hey, let's put these guys in our game!" For characters, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF FREAKING GOD AND BAYONETTA AS A PLAYABLE CHARACTER. SHE CAN BE A ZERO-SUIT SAMUS CLONE FOR ALL I CARE JUST PUT HER IN THE GAME. Also, please Sakurai, add a Splatoon-themed stage for Smash Bros. 4. Do you even know know how AMAZING that would be?!?

Anyways, this is just a small list of what needs to be added. I hope you all enjoy playing Smash on your Wii U and hope that they do add these changes because trust me: it'll be worth it. Hope to battle you all soon enough!

TIME2EXPLAIN - Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire: Primal Reversions

Can't tell if this is fan art or not but at least we see Primal Kygore and Groudon
The latest installments of the world-famous Pokemon franchise come to the 3DS once again in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. If you couldn't figure it out already, these two new games are actually re-makes of the Generation III titles, Ruby and Sapphire. This isn't that uncommon in the Pokemon franchise, actually, as Generation III also gave us FireRed and LeafGreen, which were re-makes of Generation I's Red and Green (or Blue if you lived in the United States) and Generation IV gave us HeartGold and SoulSilver, which were re-makes of Generation II's Gold and Silver.

Mega Rayquaza in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will, since it's on the 3DS, will contain certain elements from the previous entries, X and Y. Elements like 3D environments, 3D player and Pokemon models, and even Mega Evolution, which evolve certain Pokemon to a third or fourth stage. The fact Mega Evolution was added in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire made some fans question Game Freak's intentions with these new games but the company recently made an announcement that completely changes how players will look at certain Pokemon: Primal Reversion.

Primal Reversion is an almost "devolution," as it returns certain Pokemon into their primal form. Think of this as almost like a backwards Mega Evolution.

So what Pokemon are capable of Primal Reversion? Well, as of the writing of this article, only the title's main legendaries, Kyogre and Groudon. But these forms have been seen before by Dialga in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. But sadly, the third main legendary, Rayquaza, does not get a Primal Reversion but instead a Mega Evolution. According to the lore, Rayquaza may have actually created Mega Evolutions but only time will tell.

Well, what do you guys think? Will you buy Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire for this new concept of evolving Pokemon? Or is it just plain ridiculous? Let me know in the Comments.

MY OPINIONS - Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Character Confirmation...?

Japan gets the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. this weekend but some lucky devils got the largely-anticipated game AHEAD of time. So, instead of playing the game on their own and enjoying the experience, they instead decide to livestream their playthrough on Twitch. What followed would make the fanbase go INSANE, as several new and returning characters were revealed to be playable. The fighters are:

 VETERANS:

  • Falco (Star Fox)
  • Mr. Game-and-Watch (Game and Watch)
  • Ness (Earthbound)
  • R.O.B. (R.O.B.)
  • Dr. Mario (Super Mario/Dr. Mario)
  • Wario (Super Mario/Warioland)
  • Ganondorf (Legend of Zelda)
  • Jigglypuff (Pokemon)

NEWCOMERS:
  • Duck Hunt Dog (Duck Hunt)
  • Boswer Jr./Koopalings (Super Mario)
  • Alph (Pikmin)
  • Dark Pit (Kid Icarus
But now the question is: are these characters actually real or fake?

Some fans believe this could be the early stages of a Project M-like DLC for the 3DS version. Plus, it was said the SSB4 would have a smaller roster compared to Brawl but if these leaks are true, the roster would be going from about 36 characters to 48 characters. But how could this be proven real then? Well, the Twitch videos were actually removed so this could mean that somebody is trying to hide something.

Even so, what do I think? What is my opinion on all these characters joining the fight? I like it. I believe that we need more great characters, like Dr. Mario, while also adding newr and more creative characters, like Duck Hunt Dog.

So, in conclusion, I want this to be real. I'm hoping to see trailers for these characters VERY SOON, Nintendo. Don't let me down!

MY OPINIONS - Nintendo's NEW 3DS and 3DS LL

The New 3DS featuring... SNES-style XYAB buttons???
On August 29th, 2014, Nintendo announced that they were going to update their handheld gaming device known as the Nintendo 3DS. According to Anandtech.com, the update would include, "...Better quality 3D, NFC built-in, Gyro sensor...7 hour battery life, microSD support, Wireless PC backup support, HTML5 browser, [and a]... CPU clock increase..." But what seems to be putting off most fans are the 2 extra triggers, another analog stick and even some extra buttons! The Big N also said that these new handhelds feature Amiibo support, which are Nintendo's version of the Skylanders figures and are only known to be for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

With all of this information, I've decided to make an opinion on it and it is... it is a smart move on Nintendo's front. Think about it: The increase of battery life was MUCH needed and the better 3D quality will make gameplay so much more in-depth! The only problem is the need for extra triggers and buttons. I already have a hard enough time mashing the X, Y, A, and B buttons, not to mention the RT and LT buttons, so adding even more will just make it more of a hassle. But when you think about it, game developers can use these new features to their advantage! The processor is faster, meaning Internet-powered applications and games will run better and with the new analog stick (called the C-stick), players can now use the camera to their heart's content.

Along with all these comes with larger screens, console size, and... customization? Yes, the new 3DS (not the 3DS XL or LL) will feature custom face and back plates that will change the look of your 3DS outside and even inside! You can now add custom wallpapers to your 3DS home screen. If you're not sold on getting this new 3DS yet, if you LOVE RPGs, well, Nintendo announced that the first exclusive game coming to the new 3DS is Xenoblade Chronicles! Fully remastered in 3D for your gaming pleasure!

So why else is this a great move on Nintendo's part? Well, we can expect more exclusives coming to the 3DS, slong with, hopefully following the success of Mario Kart 8, DLC. Sadly though, no release date has been announced for the United States but is said to be out by the end of the year in Japan. Prices are currently 16,000¥ for the standard size and 18,000¥ for the LL model.

So what do you guys think of the new 3DS? Will you dish out the cash for a huge improvement or is it a waste of time? Let me know in the Comments.

Mortal Kombat X ANNOUNCED! But We Gotta Wait...

Remember how gamers rejoiced when Microsoft announced that Killer Instinct would be rebooted on the Xbox One? Well, fighters rejoice again because NetherRealm Studios is back and has released the official teaser for their newest game, Mortal Kombat X.

Following the success of the 2011 reboot, Mortal Kombat X looks to be the best entry in the franchise. By what we can see in the teaser, characters will be redesigned yet again for this new entry. We also see that X-Ray Attacks will be getting a more realistic look. Also seen was NetherRealms' newest mechanic, environment interaction. This was first introduced in their last game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and seems to be coming into the newest entry of the most brutal fighting game franchise of all time. Finally, we get beautiful HD graphics that really bring the game to life.

But, as many will say, this teaser is probably not game footage but instead a cinematic to get fans hyped up. Well, here's what I say to that: when Microsoft released the trailer for Forza Mortasport 5, the graphics were so beautiful and well-crafted, it didn't look like a game. But we saw the "In-Game Footage" subtitle underneath and everyone bawled in its beauty. Though we don't get such a subtitle in the teaser, we cannot rue out the possibility of this being in-game footage.

As for release information, Mortal Kombat X is supposedly to come out in 2015 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4. So get ready, fighters! Your game will be here soon...

"Hyrule Warriors" Officially Revealed!

Link, Hyrule Warriors
Shia, Hyrule Warriors
Don't these pieces of character art just scream beautiful? Well, luckily for you Zelda fans, this is what the elf boy Link will be designed as for the second Wii U Zelda game, Hyrule Warriors.

But before I go on with anything else, I just want to say one thing: what's up with game designers and scarves? I mean, first there was Sonic Boom! but this? I mean this is just ridiculous. I get they want to bring a new kind-of feel to each game but your main character isn't a hipster! Unless Link is a hipster... hm... a question for another day. The point is that I hate the idea of characters having scarves. That's it. Moving on.

Time to get serious and talk about the important stuff:

  • The game will (hopefully) be released on Thursday, August 14th, 2014 in retail stores and on the Wii U's eShop. According to nintendonews.com, there are 4 total ways to get the game:
    • Retail: about $79
    • eShop: about $69
    • Premium Box Set: about $119
    • Treasure Box Set: -price not confirmed-
  • Link is not an elf boy exactly this time around. Much like he was a blacksmith's apprentice in A Link Between Worlds, Link changes occupations to become a solider in this upcoming title.
  • Princess Zelda (who has no current released design) has been captured by a new enemy named Shia
  • Impa makes her return and is a PLAYABLE CHARACTER. MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE.
  • A new element has been added to gameplay: certain attributes of weapons affect your fighting. So, for example, a light sword would make you faster, since you are not being weighed down by any heavy metal.
  • Weapons can be improved with the new upgrading system.
  • Classic items like bombs make their return.
  • Speaking of classic, the infamous Spin Attack makes it return.
  • Three new enemies have been confirmed: Wizuro, Valga, and Shia
  • Hyrule Warriors will be playable at E3 2014

If you'd like to have your eyes gorged out of their sockets by the beauty of this game, please check out the official website to see some amazing screenshots. But keep in mind that the website is kinda in Japanese since it was released the day of the writing of this article so just deal with it.

Impa, Hyrule Warriors

Ok. Personal Opinion time. This is the most beautiful Zelda game to date. I loved Skyward Sword but Hyrule Warriors shows exactly what the Wii U is capable of with its new engine. So, Microsoft and Sony fans: you mad, bro? You wish you could a gorgeous Zelda game like this but noooope. Last time Nintendo tried to something with another member of the Big 3, they accidentally created the Playstation.

But anyways, what do you guys think of the new Zelda game? Do you love it or hate it? Leave me a Comment in the Comments section below :)

Death of Bob Hoskins, Mario Kart 8 Direct in Review, and Minecraft Realms! - BREAKING NEWS #3

Once again, I bring you the newest in video game news while I search for interesting topics for the Super Smash Bros./Gaming Revolution series, which will come to a close upon the release of the 3DS title. But until then, here's the latest in gaming culture:

Metal Mario makes his second appearance in the series.
First, on April 30th, 2014, Nintendo SHOCKED THE WORLD with a brand-new Nintendo Direct, this time being all about Mario Kart 8. The next game in the Mario Kart franchise is said to be Nintendo's biggest and best, exclusively on the Wii U console. There was so much going on in this Nintendo Direct that I'll just list off a couple of the things they talked about:
  • New Characters:
    • Baby Roslalina
    • Pink Gold Princess Peach
  • Wii U Bundle Kit with Deluxe Set, Mario Wheel Peripheral, and Controller
  • Club Nintendo members who register Mario Kart 8 before July 31st will get a free download of one of six or eight Wii U titles.
  • Online Modes:
    • Worldwide
    • Regional
    • Friends
    • Tournaments
  • Introduce Mario Kart TV to showcase your best moments and even post to YouTube
  • New Items:
    • Crazy 8 - Gives you eight different items to use
    • Piranha Plant - Attaches a Piranha Plant to the front of your kart
    • Super Horn - THE ONLY ITEM THAT WILL DEFEAT THE BLUE SHELL
    • Boomerang - It's a boomerang.

Think of all the possibilities...
Second, earlier this week, Mojang FINALLY released Minecraft Realms to North America. For those who don't know what Minecraft Realms is, here's the low-down: Minecraft Realms is a new multiplayer feature in which for the payment of $13 (a really small fee), you can invite up to twenty of your block-stacking friends to play Minecraft with you. You will even be able to play mini-games created by the community together, such as SethBling's DwarvesVSZombies. The best part is only invited players will be able to play with you. So it's kind of like a LAN Server that up to twenty people can play on except they are around the world and not in a close proximity of each other. Mojang said that these servers will be up 24/7 and even though this is only for PC right now but hopes to expand to both console releases and Pocket Edition as well.

Bob Hoskins: 1943-2014
Finally, sad news for both gamers and movie fans alike as British actor Bob Hoskins died on April 29th, 2014 at the age of 71. Known for his portrayal of Super Mario in the 1993 film Super Mario Bros. and as Eddie Valliant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Hoskins has provided his talent for countless years and winning the hearts of many movie-goers. According to CNN, "...His passing comes nearly two years after he retired from acting following a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease..." (Leopold). Despite this, he brought life to so many iconic characters and will be missed.

That will conclude your latest in BREAKING NEWS. Thank you for reading and as always, Gamers of the Nations, RAGE ON! I'll see you next time :)

Minecraft Server Reviews - ArcadeMania

On the website mineshafter.info, you'll find a HUGE list of Cracked Minecraft servers. These servers are specifically made for players who can't or are unable to afford a Premium Minecraft account, like me. This means I can't go onto SkythekidRS's server if I even wanted to (which I don't). Some of these Cracked servers are just flat-out trash, with nothing to actually do and no players to help support it. But there is one server that is so astounding with a community so awesome, some players can't believe that it's Cracked. This server is ArcadeMania.

ArcadeMania is a fairly large server, hosting an average of five to twenty player daily. Most of their players come for one thing: KitPVP. ArcadeMania has by far the coolest KitPVP Minigame on record, with over fifty kits available for purchase, along with special ones just for Donators. But ArcadeMania is not just about slaughtering of your enemies. They also have a wide range of other Minigames: QuakeCraft, Skyblock, Parkour, Mob Arena, and the newly added TNT Run. ArcadeMania also hosts Creative Plots, in which players can earn a special "Builder" ranking and a second plot if their creativity astounds the community. Other than Minigames, the server also has a PVP/Factions and Economy Server. Both servers play out very similiarly: Players play in Survival Mode and can begin their own Factions, recruiting players and dominating their enemies. But unlike PVP/Factions, Eco lets you sell and purchase items and blocks to help you with your journey.

Speaking of factions, if you do decide to join the server, join my faction, AirRaiders!
(I have no shame, what can I say?)

Through playing Minigames and brutally murdering one-another, it's safe to say that members of the AradeMania server actually bond and have formed a small community, which is something I don't see in many servers. That is the reason I keep going back: the community. Never in my year-long membership on this server have I enjoyed playing with such awesome and amazing people. I've seen the server change and as it has gained more and more players, I say that it has evolved from being just a Cracked server to an experience. ArcadeMania has become one of the greatest multiplayer experiences I've ever had and I'm sure you'd say the same.

I give ArcadeMania 4.75 Diamonds out 5.

Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS - My Opinions On The Newcomers

Ever since it was announced back at E3 2013, Nintendo has barraged us with new information on their latest installment in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. From new game modes to new items, we just can't escape the excitement. But if there is anything that gets fans more excited about any SSB, it's obviously the fighters. Move aside, Mario and Kirby. Time to give the new guys the spotlight.

Today, I'll be giving you my personal opinions of each of the brand new fighters that we currently know about: VillagerWii Fit Trainer, Mega Man, Little Mac, Rosalina & Luma, Charizard and Greninja. I will not count non-transforming characters such as Sheik and Zero-Suit Samus as Newcomers due to their inclusion in previous SSB games. Please remember that this article is just opinion.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Super Smash Bros. -Villager" by vaness96
Fighter: Villager - Animal Crossing Franchise

Okay, be honest: You didn't expect this guy to be in Smash. Sure, he'd be a cool Assist Trophy but a Newcomer? That's ludicrous. But, by what I've seen, Animal Crossing's iconic character may actually be a worthy opponent. His moves are cute and very home-driven, using items like the shovel to bury his opponents. Literally. If that doesn't impress you, how about his ability to steal opponent's moves and redirect them back at an opponent? Yep, Animal Crossing's Villager will be able to take Lucario's Aura Sphere and redirect it back at him. If that isn't scandalous enough, well, at least  his cuteness will melt the heart of your opponents.

Final Rating: 3 out of 5 Smash Orbs. Sure, he may just be there for looks but I believe that with his attack-stealing ability, he'll be able to take on the toughest of Veterans.

"Exercise Is Fun" by drakithu
Fighter: Wii Fit Trainer - Wii Fit Series

Every Smash has a "gag character." In the Melee, it was Dr. Mario. In Brawl, it was Rob. Ladies and gentlemen, your "gag character" of Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS is... actually pretty awesome. Sure, the Wii Fit Trainer is kind of an amusing chose for a fighter but so was the idea to put the Ice Climbers in Brawl. The Wii Fit Trainer, much like Little Mac, is practically BORN to be in SSB. Her moves are entirely based on different yoga move and exercises, not to mention her Final Smash is a rainbow-colored explosion of Yoga poses that will mow down all your opponents. Sound cool enough for you?

Final Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Smash Orbs. Yes, Wii Fit Trainer is the LAST character anybody would want in Smash but to be honest, this choice is pretty awesome.

"Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS -
 Bienvenido, Megaman" by emiyaforterko
Fighter: Mega Man - Mega Man Franchise

He's the character everybody was hoping for. He's the one and only... most exaggerated character in the Smash
whole roster. Yes, I understand Nintendo might have wanted to give fans the one character they wanted more than Ripley and Little Mac and I completely understand that. I just think they are over-doing Capcom's blue bomber by giving him the largest and most difficult move-set in all of Smash history. Don't believe me? Watch the Super Smash Direct and you tell me. I think pros will even have a difficult time using Mega Man but it's worth bringing another video game icon into

Final Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Smash Orbs. I feel Mega Man will be too difficult to use and is completely over-powered because of it. I understand you are trying to do him justice but I'll just wait till I can master the nunchuck before even attempting to use him.

"Big Mac and Little Mac" by heartstringsxiii
Fighter: Little Mac - Punch Out! Series

Possibly the mostly requested Smash character to date, Nintendo finally gave up and gave the fans what they wanted: the most epic fighter of all time going against video game icons in a battle royal to the death. Luckily, SSB. oh, did I forget to mention Giga Mac? Good luck, Mario.
Mike Tyson won't be taking anyone's ears in this game because Little Mac will be too busy beating the competition down. Though he isn't so great in the air, his on-the-ground, beat-'em-down boxing skills make him the toughest and strongest fighter in all of

Final Rating: 6 out of 5 Smash Orbs. Finally, we have an experienced fighter in the ring. Both literally and figuratively. Little Mac will finally get the spotlight he deserves. Nintendo is finally doing us fans proud.

Fighter: Rosalina & Luma - Super Mario Franchise
"Rosalina and Luma - Luma Shot" by ishmam

How can Nintendo squeeze out the success of the Super Mario Galaxy series? By putting Rosalina in EVERYTHING. First it was Mario Kart 7. Then it was Super Mario 3D World. Now it's Smash and I've had enough of it. Rosalina, I don't hate you. You are an amazing character. But you honestly got to stop showing up on every Mario game. You only exist in Galaxy and that's it. Sure, your moves are cool but please for the love of God, just stop showing up! you are gonna make Mario look like some kind of womanizer in front of Peach!

Final Rating: 2.5 out of 5 Smash Orbs. I honestly think Rosalina is better off as a side character. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what Nintendo throws at us again.

"Greninja and Charizard GIF" by Not-Quite-Normal
Fighters: Charizard and Greninja - Pokemon Franchise

I know, I know. Why am I putting them together? Well, I have the same opinion on both of them: they aren't exactly "fighters." Yes, technically, they do fight each other in battles but they don't, in my opinion, need to be in the fight. Most fans were really hoping for the Pokemon Trainer to make his return but to play as just Charizard and Greninja just won't be as fun to me. There are already a LOT of Pokemon in SSB, counting all the Pokeballs, Master Balls, Pikachu and Lucario. We don't really need anymore solo Pokemon brawlers. The only way I would choose to play as either of them is if they Mega Evolve like Lucario.

Final Rating: 2.6 out of 5 Smash Orbs. The Pokemon franchise is one of Nintendo's largest cash cow so it's no surprise they want to constantly shove this down our throats by integrating them everywhere. I feel as if these two will end up like Rosalina & Luma: Clumsy and annoying. I don't care how cool they are, to be honest. There are too many Pokemon. Next time, just stay with 150.

Oculus Rift Sells Out and Minecraft Goes Next-Gen - BREAKING NEWS #2

Yet again, I'm providing you all a step away from the barrage of Super Smash Bros. content to give you some other video game news. Much like last time, these stories aren't exactly current but are still relevant so please keep this in mind with open eyes.

The first of your two stories is that Facebook has purchased the virtual reality headset, Oculus Rift, for $2 billion. According to Business Insider, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg said that Facebook plans to take Oculus VR's newest piece of tech to the next level. "After games, we're going to make Oculus a platform for many other experiences. Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face -- just by putting on goggles in your home."

Now, you have to remember that there is no actual Oculus Rift  for the general public right now. The only version that is out now is the Developer Kit. Maybe Zuckerburg plans to quicken production on the public model of the headset so that those who want to enter into the next generation of games can do so sooner. That, or he just wants to make a 3D version of Farmville, complete with ads. Yea, no likes for that.

Second, and finally, 4J Studios, the developers of the Xbox 360 and PS3 Versions of Mojang's hit title Minecraft, released an image of what appears to be Minecraft for Sony's Vita. This could mean that the blocky title may officially be ready to go next-gen since Sony has had a great history with games like this so
far. Remember when Sony announced that the Vita would be able to connect to the PS3 and you'd be able to continue games away from your home console, much like the Wii U's game tablet? Well, with the success of the PS3 version of Minecraft, we could expect crafters to be able to use this feature. But, none can say for sure, considering no official details were announced.

With that, this will be the end of your new news.
And as always, Gamers of the Nations, RAGE ON and I'll see you next time :)

Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS - Smash Bros. Direct in Review

On April 8, 2014, Shigeru Miyamoto went online in a special Super Smash Bros. Edition of Nintendo Direct to finally answer some questions about the latest installments in the franchise. If you didn't watch it or are too lazy to, I will provide a recap of all the newly-released aspects and concepts for SSB4.
  • Release: To many fans' surprise, the Nintendo 3DS version will be coming out BEFORE the Wii U counterpart. No exact date was in place, though, leaving some fans disappointed. But still, expect the Nintendo 3DS version to release worldwide Summer 2014 and the Wii U version Winter 2014.
  • Technical Aspects:
    • All fighters will be running at a beautiful 60 fps. To make sure the gameplay isn't slowed, Assists Trophies will only be running at 30 fps
    • Not only that, but both consoles will be able to interact with each other but Miyamoto shared no details on how.
  • Differences Between Versions:
    • As we all were aware, both consoles will be featuring stages unique to each game. Other than that, no really new information was released.
  • Stages:
    • As previously mentioned, both consoles will have different stages so if you are somebody who is looking for a new kind of challenge, try playing both games.
    • Stage Bosses will return once more. But one that got everybody excited was a certain shadow of a specific character that was seen. Who? Well, all I'll say was the stage seemed very Metroid-y. You'll have to figure it out from there.
    • For the new game mode For Glory (talked about later on), all stages will have a Final Destination-inspired design.
  • Assist Trophies:
    • Plenty of Assist Trophies were shown in a montage during Direct, not only ones that were previously announced such as Waluigi from Mario TennisAshley from WarioWare, and Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Assist Trophies haven't made many changes but still expect a lot chaos to ensue.
  • Items:
    • Plenty of items new and old were shown, such as the famous Bumper showcasing its new design.
    • Pokeballs also make their return with a new inclusion: The Master Ball. These new items from the Pokemon universe have the same concept of their red and white brethren but hold more legendary Pokemon, such as Reshiram, Palkia and Arceus.
  • Online Play:
    • Nintendo has decided that for online play, you will no longer be anonymous and instead have your Nintendo Network ID visible to other players. No only that, but you can now be reported and even banned temporarily from play, much like Miiverse. The reason for this is to make online play easier and more fun for everyone.
    • Also included for Online Play are three brand-new game modes: For Fun, For Glory and Smash Run.
      • For Fun: A simple and easy multiplayer battle royale. All stages are available for choosing, all items are on and only your wins are recorded.
      • For Glory: A tough multiplayer mode for only the veterans. This mode pits you against anywhere between one to three other fighters on Final Destination or a Final Destination-inspired arena with no items and only your wits. both wins and losses will be recorded.
      • Smash Run: Exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS, this game mode pits you against three other players to gather up power-ups to improve your fighter in a certain time limit before going head-to-head-to-head-to-head. These power-ups are similar to those found in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
  • Fighters:
    • Concepts:
      • If you enjoyed turning from Zelda to Sheik in Brawl, well no longer will you be able to transform. Sorry, guys.
    • Returning:
      • Yoshi: Back with a straighter spine, his dinosaur is ready to fight once more.
      • Zero-Suit Samus: Out to prove that you don't need a suit to be powerful, she's been equipped with jet boots and a new move-set.
      • Sheik: Everyone's favorite ninja is back and awesomer than ever.
      • Samus: New Final Smash
      • Lucario: As he takes more damage, his attacks will be more powerful. Also, MEGA LUCARIO!!!!! OMG!!!!
      • Captain Olimar: You will only be able to summon three Pikmin at a time and it will follow a color-based system. Also a new move.
    • New:
      • Mega Man: Finally, players see all of his moves and his Final Smash: 5 generations of Mega Mans coming in for a MEGA KILL.
      • Little Mac: After much speculation, it's revealed that Little Mac's Final Smash will be him turning into Giga Mac, much like Bowser transforms into... Giga... Bowser... Wow, so creative... Also, an alternate skin was announced.
      • Charizard: The most famous Pokemon of all time has finally ditched the Pokemom trainer for his own spot in the roster. Expect a move-set much similar to Bowser and cross your fingers for a Mega Charizard X Final Smash.
      • Greninja: The most unexpected pick of fighters, Greninja leaves the Kalos region for the brawl. Bringing in his water moves and his stealth, look out, Sheik. There's a new ninja in town.

Well, there you guys go! A quick recap of Super Smash Bros. Direct. If I missed anything important, please let me know in the Comments below.

And as always, Gamers of the Nations, RAGE ON! I'll see you guys next time :)

Game Changers: The Top 5 Games That Changed How We Play

Every now and then, there comes a video game that sets a higher standard to a genre. Sometimes they even make a new genre. Even so, these 5 video games redefined the video game industry and helped make it was it is today. These are my Top 5 Game Changers.

5) Minecraft - PC, Xbox 360, PS3 - Mojang:

Minecraft is also known for its amazing community
The sandbox title truly proved one thing: gameplay is more important than graphics. The quirkyness of every item being cubical and returning to the roots of the old-school survival game, Minecraft truly proves this point. Minecraft is not just about looks though: the Single Player survival campaign is long and brutal, meaning you must dedicate hundreds of hours to fight the terrifying Ender Dragon, only to then sit through a poetic 10 minute end credits. Then, you can replay the game from right where you left off, no restarting and no questions asked. Not only that, this game reinvigorated the Independent (indie) genre of video games. From having a cult following to becoming one of the most popular games of all time with, as of September 2013, over 33 million registered users. In the end, Minecraft is a great game with an interesting look at how a game as simple as Survival can be so... fun.

Keep on spinning, Mario...
4) Super Mario 64 - Nintendo 64 - Nintendo:

Admit it: you knew the famous red plumber would make it somewhere on this list. Well, truth be told, he did make a giant impact on the video game industry. Created by Shigeru Miyamoto back when Nintendo crafted the infamous arcade title, Donkey Kong, then known as only Jumpman because of his ability to, well, jump. After the success of the Donkey Kong franchise, Miyamoto decided to give our buddy the star treatment he deserved: a new name and a new series. Now known as Mario, he became gaming's largest and most recognizable icon. Even people who don't play video games know of Mario! But how did he impact the video game world? Mario reinvented 3-Dimensional gaming. Super Mario 64 was one of Nintendo's first attempts at 3D Platforming and it was a success. In fact, it was such a success that franchises like Legend of Zelda and Star Fox began using this technology also, spawning some of the greatest games of all time.

3) The Last of Us - PS3, PS4 - Naughty Dogs:

Just a look at some of the scores The Last of Us has gotten.
What is there left to be said about The Last of Us? The game is action-packed, the cinematics of the cutscenes are superb and the gameplay is so smooth that it's difficult to even compare. But despite it being a Sony exclusive, this game is worth the playthrough. The game has a dark tone, telling Joel and Ellie's story of survival in a post-apocalyptic United States. But the real reason this game is such a hit is because of the way the game play affects the player. In the game, you not only have to fight waves of infected zombie-like creatures but you are forced to also kill other survivors. Yes, sometimes you will have to kill innocent people so you can live longer. The game presents this in a matter it's almost disturbing and the game itself re-imagines the survival/horror genre of video games.

2) Super Smash Bros. Franchise - Multiple Consoles - Nintendo:

Current characters for SSB4, coming later this year.
Back in the days of the Nintendo 64, there was a game that would change the fighting genre and that game is Smash. Yes, Smash didn't exactly create the fighting genre. Games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter were WAY out before Smash was even being fleshed out but the game introduced the concept of a "multiverse fighting game," or a fighting game in which characters and entities from different universes would come together in a battle royal. Without Smash, games like Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe and Marvel vs Capcom probably wouldn't exist. Plus, it became Nintendo's second biggest cash cow, with the first obviously being anything with the name Mario in it.

1) Mega Man Franchise - Multiple Consoles - Capcom:

Mega Man Comics.... YUSH :D
Released for the NES in 1987, Capcom's Blue Bomber is truly special in the hearts of many gamers. With over 50 games under his name, Mega Man changed the Platforming genre with the simplistic controls and the surprisingly difficult levels, all of which leading up to an epic Boss Battle. The controls were easy and the gameplay was fun but the truly amazing thing about the Mega Man games were how easy a player could adapt. Most games were programmed to have a Tutorial or have little text boxes saying how you should play but with Mega Man, you learn how to play as you play. The games grew a cult following and simple became a part of pop culture. Sadly, all good things come to an end and Capcom stopped releasing Mega Man games. LUCKILY WE GOT MIGHTY NUMBER 9 COMING SOON SO HURRAY!

So, there you have it: My personal opinion of the games that changed... games. Tell me what you guys think and what games changed gaming for you in the Comment section below!

Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS - Items That We Need In SSB4

Throughout the Smash franchise, items have been so useful at demolishing your enemies without doing much work. From Assist Trophies to Pokeballs, these items are fun, useful and down-right destructive. So, of course, SSB4 will HAVE to be jam-packed with items new and old. Returning items that have been announced so far include bumpers (with a new design), the previously mentioned Assist Trophies and Pokeballs, along with the devastatingly O.P. Home Run Bat. But what items should be included in the next entry? Read on as I browse the histories of Capcom, Nintendo and Sega to bring you Items I believe should be in SSB4.

Double Cherry - Super Mario 3D Land, Nintendo:
By acquiring this power-up in Nintendo's latest 3D Mario platformer, you split into 2+ clones of yourself, which you control at the same time. With this item available in Smash, you'd be able to do twice as much
damage to your opponents (or quadruple damage if you choose a Power character like Bowser or Little Mac). There would be extreme chaos on the battlefield and whoever holds this item would yield an amazing advantage over the competition.

Chaos Emeralds - Sonic the Hedgehog Franchise, SEGA:
Much similar to the Invincibility Star in Super Mario Bros., the Chaos Emeralds would grant the user extreme power, making them virtually invincible. The reason I chose the Chaos Emeralds over the Invincibilty Star is very simple: in order for them to work in Smash, they'd have to be like the Dragoon from Brawl and you'll have to collect all the pieces as the battle progresses.

Energy Tank - Mega Man Franchise, Capcom:
The Energy Tank would be very similar to the food items from Brawl: it would replenish your health. It's a simple item but it would make an awesome cameo.

Boomerang Bro Suit - Super Mario Franchise, Nintendo:
This item I liked in Super Mario 3D World for the Nintendo 3DS. What you get is the ability for you to throw boomerangs and they return. It sounds simple but you have to realize that with this suit on, all enemies, singular or multiple, go down in one hit. This suit would be incredibly over-powered, making it perfect for Smash.

T-Virus - Resident Evil Franchise, Capcom:
I realize this probably won't make the cut but listen: having the ability to become the undead would be amazing. Your character would have a power increase but have a higher chance of getting knocked off-screen. Plus, you can infect your opponents and if you can infect all four, you get your health regenerated. Again, slim chance of making it but hey, if Solid Snake was able to get in Brawl, this idea is probably not as crazy as it sounds.

Wisps - Sonic Colors/Sonic Lost World, SEGA:
Introduced in Sonic Colors, the Wisps grant Sonic special abilities such as propelling like a rocket, digging into the ground like a drill, etc. If these abilities were granted available use in Smash 4, then there would be some insanity. Plus, they could power up your characters Final Smash to make an Ultra Smash. I hope you're reading this, Nintendo.

Portal Gun - Portal Franchise, Valve:
This is just a crazy idea. I realized Nintendo won't really want anymore third-party content in SSB4 but when you think about it, the Portal Gun would be an amazing cameo item. It would still carry it's functions of making an orange and blue portal and picking up items but it would carry a new ability: Firing objects at enemies much like the Zero-Gravity Gun from Half-Life. Plus, Valve hasn't put out anything since Portal 2, I believe. At least use it as an acknowledgement to gamers who want their HALF-LIFE 3.

Golden Guns - Goldeneye 007 '64, Rare Entertainment:
I previously mentioned that I believe James Bond should make a spot in the SSB4 roster because of the success of his entry on Nintendo's hit console. I know that probably won't happen but they should recognize Rare and heir success with the infamous golden guns from the hit game. Just saying. I mean, they game is jam-packed with nostalgia so why not put this on the list for nostalgia puposes?

There you go! My list of items I think deserve to be in SSB4! Please Comment down below on what items you'd like to see in the next Brawl!

Irrational Games Closes and Ubisoft Announces Assassin's Creed 5(?) - BREAKING NEWS #1

I'm going to take a break from SSB4 to bring you loyal readers some other news coverage. You better be happy.

Good-bye, Big Daddy... YOU FREAK.
First of is actually not that recent but I need to touch on it: Irrational Games, the developers of great games like the Bioshock franchise, closed its doors after 17 years. The reason for the shut down? Founder and studio head Ken Levine says he wants to "create something new," according to an article on The Verge. Levine also said that "If we're lucky, we'll build something half as memorable as Bioshock." There are only two things that make me sad about this news: 1. the possibility of no more Bioshock. When you think about it, the spiritual successor to the System Shock series did follow an odd path when it comes to, believe it or not, titles. Bioshock and Biosock 2 had average titles but didn't play like average games but 2013's Bioshock Infinite intrigued me with that word: infinite. In most cases, the word infinite is used as a word to describe a situation in the case of death, such as a person's soul living infinitely on the other side. There's also the case with returning to Rapture in the Burial at Sea DLC: why return to a place so admirable when you have clearly moved on from that storyline? Are both of these cases evidence of Irrational's good-bye salute? I don't know, it's just an idea.

Assassin's Creed 5? ALREADY?!?!
Finally, Ubisoft announced in a very special teaser trailer that they are releasing their next entry into the Assassin's Creed franchise, named Assassin's Creed: Unity. The new entry takes place during the French Revolution, according to sources. How does this relate to Desmond's bloodline, exactly? They haven't exactly released that information but if I were to make a guess, the next main character will be a blood-relative to Edward Kenway, much like he was a blood-relative to Connor in Assassin's Creed III. For the first next-gen release in this iconic franchise, I sure hope Ubisoft makes this entry worth while.

But that about does it for your newest news! SSB4 news will resume when something intriguing comes out and nothing about Assist Trophies or Stages.

And As Always, Gamers of the Nations, RAGE ON! I'll see you next time :)

Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS - Top 5 Characters Honorable Mentions

Of course, with every list like a Top 10 Characters I Want In _______, there are also characters that come so close to making the cut but just fall a bit short. These are the characters that I almost put on my list but gave second thoughts about.
Toon Zelda

5) Toon Zelda/Tetra - Legend of Zelda Franchise, Nintendo

In Brawl, it was discovered by players there was some data on the game that supposedly said "Toon Zelda." Now, I have to admit, though I don't SSBB, I do believe that if she were to be added in the latest installment, hardcore L.O.Z. fans would rejoice. Plus, if you include her transformation to Tetra from Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, I would actually play as her. The only reason she didn't make the list is the same reason I don't like Toon Link: the moves would be too similar to their real-life counterpart.
exactly believe that she exists in

4) Professor Layton and Ace Attorney - Professor Layton and Ace Attorney Franchises, Nintendo and Capcom

Originally supposed to be gag characters I would've thrown in, I realized that they don't exactly fit into the Super Smash universe. This is mostly because both characters aren't really fighters but more puzzle-solvers. Not to mention that they wouldn't really have powerful moves. But if they do get added into the game (by sheer luck, I suppose), they'd probably be better of as Assist Trophies. Again, SHEER LUCK.

3) Ryu and Goku - Street Fighter and Dragon Ball Franchises, Capcom and (Whoever makes the Dragon Ball Games Now)

The second tie on the list, but for good reason: There's so much debate over these characters. Listen, Ryu and Goku already have their own fighting games. Even if the were to cross paths in Super Smash Bros., they'd be so over-powered, it would make Giga Bowesr look like a tiny kitten. Plus, GOKU DOESN'T FIT IN SSB. SO SHUT UP!!!!

2) Knuckles - Sonic the Hedgehog Franchise, SEGA

Yes, the red-colored brawler would be a perfect addition to the game. He would have a powerful move set and could easily demolish the competition. I even considered replacing Shadow with Knuckles in my Top 10 Characters I Want List. The only reason I didn't is because we already have Little Mac from Punch-Out! on the list. In order for Knuckles to properly fit into t
he game, in my opinion, he would've shared an identical move set to Little Mac. Plus, his final smash
would've probably been similar to Shadow and Sonic since he can also use the abilities given by the Chaos Emeralds.

Mickey Mouse
1) Mickey Mouse - Epic Mickey Franchise, Junction Point Studios

Admit it: you have a spot for Disney in our heart and with the Epic Mickey games being some of the best original concepts to come out of Disney's endless supply of ideas, it would've made no surprise that Mickey Mouse would bring him and his paintbrush to battle against video games' most popular icons. He'd use his paintbrush to create items, regenerate health and use his thinner to cause holes in the map, erase players, etc. the only reason he didn't make the cut is because of one thing: copyright. Nintendo would have o talk to Junction Point to acquire the title license but then have to go to Disney to acquire to actual content license. Yep, thanks to copyright, we may not have the famous mouse kicking butt and taking names.

So, that ends the list of the characters I (almost) wanted in Smash. If you want to see who did make the cut, just click here: Top 10 Characters I Want In Super Smash Bros 4

Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS - Top 10 Characters I Want in SSB4

In 1999, Nintendo released Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64, a game in which all of the biggest icons of the video game company's history come together in one giant battle royale. Since then, SSB has become one of Nintendo's best-selling franchises to date and kick-started the brawler genre.

But the absolute best thing about SSB is the roster. Every great fighting game needs a great roster and with the release date for the fourth installment slated for this year, I've decided to give the 10 characters I want to see in Super Smash Bros.

James Bond

10) James Bond - Goldeneye 007 64, Rare
Goldeneye 64 was one of the best-selling games for the Nintendo 64 home console. With it's enraging multi-player and super-fun Cheats Mode, this game was a true classic and with the latest installment's roster always consisting of characters that influenced Nintendo's history, why not include good-old 007? Sure, there would be some dispute for the rights to the character but hey, Capcom let Nintendo get away with Solid Snake. Why not Bond?

9) Waluigi - Mario Franchise, Nintendo
When Wario debuted as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl back in 2008, it's no surprise that Luigi's evil counterpart should join the fight himself. Though we did get a glimpse of him in Brawl as anSSB4, I still would like to see what he would bring to the table.
Assist Trophy, and although Masahiro Sakurai did confirm that Waluigi would still be an Assist Trophy is

8) Shadow the Hedgehog - Sonic the Hedgehog Franchise, SEGA
Much like Waluigi, we did get only a glimpse of Shadow as an Assist Trophy in Brawl. But even so, Shadow would make an amazing fighter. Shadow's Wikipedia page says he was created by "...Professor Gerald Robotnik who designed Shadow to be the "Ultimate Life Form", a first step towards achieving the goal of immortality, but the government deemed Project Shadow a threat..." Plus, SEGA needs more representation in SSB, not to mention Shadow probably has just as many or even more fans the Sonic himself.
Palutena

7) Palutena - Kid Icarus Franchise, Nintendo
When a stage in SSB4 was revealed via Miiverse of a stage based on Kid Icarus: Uprising that featured a statue of the goddess and leaked photos of realistic-looking footage of Palutena brawling it out on the 3DS version, the Internet began to wonder if Palutena would be a character in the next iteration. I do have my doubts the leaked photos are fake but I do want the Goddess of Light to duke it out against Mario and Mega Man. Why? BECAUSE WHY NOT.

6) Rayman - Rayman Franchise, Ubisoft
Think about it: Nintendo is a family-friendly company and having delivering the best way to experience Rayman Legends on the Wii U console, I would totally geek OUT if Rayman makes the cut. He's the most family-friendly character Ubisoft has to offer and he's already designed in the cartoony style much like everyone else in SSB. Plus, his move set would be UNSTOPPABLE. No limbs? No problem.

5) Ripley - Metroid Franchise, Nintendo
Admit it: you want Ripley. Everybody wants Ripley. He's a giant pterodactyl from space ready to murder everyone. But the issue most people have with Ripley is that he would be "too big" for the game. Well, in a recent posting from Sakurai on Miiverse, size in Smash has never really mattered. I mean, Little Mac is smaller than Samus and she's 6ft 3in tall. That's about the height of a regular human being.  Also, Bowser is approximately the same size he was in Super Mario Sunshine, which also happened to be his largest form in the Mario franchise. So SCREW SIZES, JUST GIVE ME RIPLEY.

4) Dr. Robotnik or Dr. Willy - Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man Franchises
Mario's got Bowser. Link's got Ganondorf (who still has yet to be confirmed or not) and Kirby's got King Dedede. When you include major franchises like Sonic and Mega Man into Smash, you gotta have their corresponding villians. It would make sense. Plus, we need more villians in the roster anyways. Sure, their move set would probably SUCK but hey, this is jus my opinion, so does Mr. Game-and-Watch's move set.
Pac-Man

3) Pac-Man - Pac-Man Franchise
It's no surprise that when people found out Namco-Bandai was helping Nintendo develop the next iteration of SSB that they want Pac-Man and to be honest, I totally agree. Including Pac-Man into Smash would be GREAT and besides: Nintendo and Namco-Bandai have worked together on games before. Heck, there's even an arcade series version of Mario Kart in Japan(?) called Mario Kart Arcade that even features Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Blinky (if I remember correctly). This should give Sakurai enough ground to include Pac-Man in the game. Neck, put him in as an Assist Trophy for all I care! JUST GIVE ME PAC-MAN!

2) Blue - Pokemon Franchise, Nintendo
Nobody was expecting the Pokemon Trainer (or as I preferably call him, Red) to join the roster in  Brawl. So it would make since that there should be Blue in SSB4. He would still have the same Pokemon he did in the games but as I mentioned before, we need more villians in the game. If this were to happen, though, he'd probably be an alternate skin but we'd still see our good-old rival Blue in there somewhere. Ah, nostalgia.

1) Miis - Multiple Games, Nintendo
Nintendo has done a great job with promoting customization in there latest handhelds and consoles with the introduction of Miis. Miis have had their own spot in games like Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Party and even Mario Kart Wii. So when Brawl came out for the Wii, it was a surprise to me that the Mii option wasn't available. If the Miis were available, you'd  have the option to make your move set before battle, earning new abilities just for your Mii character much like you recieved Stickers in The Subspace Embassy in Brawl. Except you teach it to your Mii like you would to a Pokemon: Like an HM or a TM. But still, being able to see me give Link a great beatdown would be SO COOL and SO MUCH FUN. Besides, when they announced the Wii U, they said they want to still make a console for everyone but still be made for YOU, right?

Well, that'll end my Top 10 Characters list. Tell me what characters you'd like in the Comments below .
And As Always, Gamers of the Nations, RAGE ON! And I'll see you next time.
