E-Mail From Nintendo

Yesterday, I e-mailed Nintendo of America to talk about the upcoming shut down of the Flipnote Hatena service for the Nintendo DSi system. They actually replied! >^< Here's the official e-mail:

Greetings C.J,
Thank you for sharing your feedback about Flipnote Hatena. First off, I wanted to let you know that we do not use automated programs, and that our employees here at Nintendo read and answer each and every email that we receive. As an avid user of Flipnote Hatena myself, I can certainly understand your disappointed regarding the recent news about this service. Rest assured that everything you've mentioned in your email about Flipnote Hatena and Flipnote Studio 3D has been documented and will be passed along to our other departments at the company. Even if it isn't positive, we always appreciate hearing what's important to our fans.

At this time, I can only confirm that the Flipnote Hatena service will no longer be available after May 31st, 2013. The reason for this is that we are transferring the current services to the new services since Flipnote Studio 3D will be released soon. We apologize for DSiWare Flipnote Studio users, but we appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Sincerely,
Kevin Anderson

Subject: Flipnote Hatena for Nintendo DSi/DSi XL

Dear Nintendo,

I am a loyal user of the Flipnote Hatena service that you have provided on your handheld, the Nintendo DSi. I've only been using the service for a year since February and I love it. The friendships I made, the fans I earned. They all were hard-earned with dedication. In fact, I was so dedicated to being great, I almost failed school just to keep my progress going (I brought myself back, though). So when I heard the announcement that you were shutting down the Flipnote Hatena service effective as of May 31st, 2013, just to replace it with a similar service for the Nintendo 3DS, I actually got angry. The service is doing perfectly fine on the DSi on it's own so why did you decide to shut it down? There are millions of children and teens using the service daily but can't afford the Nintendo 3DS (I know I can't afford it). So keep the service up for those who can't afford another handheld. Also, I know the Flipnote 3D application for the 3DS is supposed to be better in almost every single way but do you really need to charge money to post Flipnotes? That evidence right there proves that you are trying to possibly get more money to make up for 2012, when the 3DS sales began to drop. Or it proves that you are purposely focusing more on the 3DS than on the regular DS and DSi systems. I, for one, think that it's kind of selfish, only focusing on one, specific handheld while its fellow brethren are just left to lurk in the shadows. As I pointed out before, Not everybody has a 3DS so it seems kind-of unfair that you would be singling them out. Finally, again, as mentioned, millions upon millions of people use the service daily, making it extremely popular among those who use it. Not to mention when you introduced the Nintendo DSi console back in 2008/2009, it, among others, was one of your focused selling points. So if it's so popular, why are you just pushing it aside, like it's worth nothing anymore?
In conclusion, I believe that you are making a mistake, Nintendo. I furthermore go on to say that you are truly going to upset tens-of-thousands of loyal gamers, future animators, and loyal Nintendo fans by dismissing the Flipnote Hatena service. I hope you can respond to this e-mail soon. But please, I'd rather much ask to have an actual representative of the Nintendo Corporation reply to this than a programmed, automatic response machine that always sends a response that matches along the lines of: "Thank you for contacting us. We are happy to know of your opinions on how we are doing." Sorry, just a preference of mine.To bring this back to the main focus of this e-mail, please consider keeping the Flipnote Hatena service online for those with a Nintendo DSi or DSi XL. I would be truly grateful, as would all those who use the service itself.

Sincerely Yours,
